For the past few years Troop 191 have been volunteering in events run by Piranha Sports. These events include locally run Triathlons. The things asked of our Troop involves ensuring that the races run smoothly. These involve:
Traffic direction (making sure that spectator cars do not interfere with the runners)
Marking the runners prior to the race. Ensuring that the runners are directed the correct way
Handing out refreshments (usually water) to the runners during the race.
Dismantling of equipment after the event has finished.
Generally being helpful to the runners and Piranha Sports staff.
We are also looking for adults with either a motorcycle or truck to circulate the course to aid the runners in need of help.
This sounds like a lot to do, but Troop 191 will be rewarded at the rate of $50 per volunteer half of which will go into your account and the rest to the Troop. I have been helping for the past 3 years and it has been a lot of fun for the scouts and adults. Scouts who wish to volunteer MUST act responsibly. Participant have paid a significant amount of money to take part and take Triathlons very seriously. We will be representing Troop 191. We will getting involved in two races.
The first being at Lums Pond in Bear Delaware on September 11th. The Race is called Diamond Man.
